Learning Opportunities
These abound when you are a member of the Paper Valley Garden Club. Through our affiliation with the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation and the National Garden Club you can attend Schools, conferences, conventions, floral exhibits, and tours. Here are some upcoming opportunities:
1. NGC Schools
Garden Studies Consultant (similar to Master Gardener programs)
Landscape Design Consultant
Environmental Sciences Consultant
Flower Show Judge
Being certified as a 'School' consultant provides you with additional accreditation to serve on boards for city planning and parks commissions, garden and nature advocacy organizations, or to serve as a flower show/fair horticultural judge.
The Schools require attendance at four 10 hour training sessions and completion of the School's examination (currently open book). After completion of two sessions you receive the title Provisional Consultant; after completing four sessions you are a Consultant. Recertification is required every five years and is fulfilled by attending one refresher session.
More information and enrollment can be found in the 'Schools Section' on the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation and the National Garden Club's web sites. NGC Schools are scheduled in Wisconsin as well as other parts of the country. www.wisconsingardenclub.org/ngc-schools.html or gardenclub.org/our-schools
