Apple Festival - Babs Smith
March 2026
Babs Smith with Apple Blossoms for Appleton gave a presentation to all who were there thoroughly enjoyed. Babs and family started donating crab apple trees to Appleton parks and locks in 2012. She shared the history and birth of her idea to plant trees and have the spring festivals similar to Washington. With the help from the Mayor and the Forester of the City of Appleton, she and her family have planted over 400 trees. With the assistance of Appleton Park Department, they and supporters including Mayor Jake Woodford have been planting more trees annually along the Apple Creek Trail adjacent to USA Youth Sports Complex on Evergreen Drive. This year the first Apple Blossom Festival will take place May 7-9. It is a free event for families to celebrate apple blossoms, mothers and to kick off the spring season. May 7: tree planting and bike ride. May 8: Dog walk. May 9: Nature walk, yoga, kite festival, children’s activities, live music, beer garden and food, Hot air balloons. Sounds like a lot of fun and should be beautiful!! Our Club provided a donation to support the program.
